Birthday Rights

It’s my Birthday week! I turn 21 (+5) on Friday, my birthday rights started on Sunday, and we started celebrating last night.

Birthday rights are very important. Everyone has them, it’s just whether you chose to use them or not. I use mine, every year, to their full extent. Essentially, no one can disagree with me, or tell me no- and if they do; I use my birthday rights. I’m sure we can agree that this can get dangerous, birthday rights have to be used with ease and discretion.

Example:

Pat: What do you want to do tonight?
Me: I want to go to wing night and drink some beer
Pat: No, I don’t feel like that
Me: But..it’s my birthday…

Clearly, this is just an example because Pat would never say no to beer, let’s be real.  So we went and ate delicious chicken wings and drank delicious beer- and celebrated my birthday. Pat just doesn’t know we celebrated. I sang happy birthday to myself and pretended that he knew that’s why we were there. See, he has this crazy idea that my birthday is only one day. Poor guy just doesn’t understand.

I am currently updating my Pinterest board: Things you can buy me – so, if you’re feeling nice…

Today, was my first day running since the race last Sunday. And it felt just like you would imagine. Stiff, heavy, painful, sweaty. The first run, always, always sucks. But it has to happen so the good, fun run can start happening again.

Today was the day to start again for a few reasons:

1) I’m off of work today so I have no excuse not to.
2) I ate a lot of ice cream in the past week.
3) My body was feeling a little jiggly.

I’ll be honest with you; if I was a person who felt no negative effects of eating unhealthy delicious food, I would never run. I love the sedentary lifestyle, and I’m sure most of you do too. In fact, I am thoroughly enjoying sitting in this chair only moving my fingers right now. But unfortunately, I have a body that hates me, and fat develops and starts jiggling just thinking about cake. And I think about cake a lot.

Do you run because you love it or because you need to?
Do you use birthday rights?
